BLP Foundation Day 2011

To observe the 36th Foundation Day of Bombay Leprosy Project (BLP) a small but significant function was held on Friday, 9-9-2011 at the Office cum Referral Centre of Bombay Leprosy Project.   
Dr V V Pai, Director Bombay Leprosy Project while welcoming the gathering recalled the day when the project was started by Founder members and the long journey thereafter to sustain the activities of leprosy relief with focus on research with the objective of providing better and quality care to  leprosy patients despite several odds and financial constraints. He thanked all the Donors, Well wishers and supporters of the Project.       
Dr R Ganapati, Director Emeritus BLP while recalling the concept mentioned about the dedicated community based work during the past more than three decades and resolved to continue the services with special emphasis on research to reach the goal of World Without Leprosy.   
Dr Hemant Joshi, Asst Director of Health Services (Leprosy), Mumbai who was the Chief Guest at the function lauded the work of BLP while appreciating the work of NGOs in the city of Mumbai as NGOs control almost 60% - 70% of the leprosy programme.
Ms Y Nishimura and her student group who were present at the function complimented BLP and appreciated the leprosy relief work of BLP. Doctors, Paramedical Workers, Staff and patients who gathered at the meet recalled their past scientific contributions and discussed on how to utilize the expertise to meet the challenge of reaching the goal of “World Without Leprosy”.
